Lowe Family Wine Co encompasses a range of renowned food and wine businesses centred around the organic & biodynamic ‘Tinja’ farm in Mudgee, NSW. 

 

Established and led by David Lowe & Kim Currie, their decades of experience and innovation are now combined with that of a vibrant team of dedicated professionals who underpin all these operations. We call this the ‘Tinja Team’.

Who are we seeking?

From waitstaff, cellar door hosts & chefs, to gardeners, farmhands & animal handlers, the team at Lowe work across a dynamic range of opportunities backed by true care for what they do, and the place they do it.

No more double shifts

With majority of our operations happening during the day, we encourage a no double shift schedule (if that’s what you prefer). This allows a change of pace for our chefs and front of house by overturning the usual ‘hospitality hours’.

In the cellar door we’ve taken the same principled processes to protect our staff & customer experience. Not only does our bookings only policy with capped numbers help ensure a standard of excellence in service delivery, it also allows our staff to feel adequately balanced to the customer ratios.

About the role:

We are looking for a catering chef to join our dynamic kitchen team as our number of weddings & events continue to grow.

Based mostly out of our production kitchen at The Pavilion on the Lowe property, the role requires work on evenings & weekends, as well as prep time during the days.

Our businesses include a range of venues so there is the opportunity to learn and move across a range of kitchens or to specialise in a particular area if desired.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a chef who is dedicated to quality, has pride of workmanship, care for produce and supports others in every part of our diverse team.

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, however chefs of various levels & experiences are welcome to apply providing they have strong initiative, attention to detail and excel in a quick paced environments.

Cellar Door Sales Manager

With its organic & biodynamic farm, vineyards and gardens, Lowe Family Wine Co is a provider of premium wine, food and regional experiences, while leading the way in sustainable and regenerative practices. Our busy cellar door is at the centre of our operations lying within the working winery and open 7 days a week for wine tastings, wine sales & food. 

We are looking for:

We are looking for a highly motivated and capable person who wants to work in a dynamic team of wine tasters, sales staff and professional managers to help lead our renowned cellar door.

This position will suit an experienced professional with a strong background in fast-paced retail sales, marketing or specialised wine environments. The successful candidate will have a track record of driving and improving sales, while also being an effective people and operational manager.

Qualifications, licenses & qualities:

The right applicant will share our love for wine & food, while holding a strong interest in sales.

You must also have the following:

  • Current and valid RSA
  • Current driver license and own transport
  • Previous experience in a sales or marketing role with demonstrable processes and results
  • Demonstrable track record on driving and achieving sales targets, managing and training teams to sell
  • Be willing and able to work in a hospitality-based environment
  • Generally be able to work on weekends and/or on public holidays

Garden Roles

The extensive food gardens are the centre of operations at Lowe’s hatted regional restaurant The Zin House, with the kitchen and gardens teams working hand in hand to grow the produce that forms the base of the weekly menu.

Our garden team is looking for:

  • Garden supervisor
  • Garden support

 

Garden Supervisor Role

The garden supervisor will report directly to the Head Gardener. They will be the head of garden operations on the ground and will be responsible for supervising, mentoring and directing other garden team members. Role is ~25 hours a week, and responsibilities will include…

  • Supervise and coordinate all garden works according to lists and priorities provided by the Head Gardener
  • Monitor all food growing gardens and directly report any concerns to the Head Gardener
  • Maintain all food growing gardens to good health including weeding, feeding, pruning, mulching, comparing, harvesting and planting
  • Liaise with farm manager for any operation or machinery support
  • Liaise with biodynamic field officer when necessary
  • Monitor and treat any plant pests and diseases observed in the food growing gardens
  • Seed raising in the glasshouse to manage successions in the market garden
  • Liaise with Pavilion & Zin chefs to utilise as much produce from the garden as possible
  • Practice & monitor correct workplace health and safety standards during all activities
  • Monitor all irrigation systems and ensure they are working effectively
  • Inventory management in collaboration with the Head Gardener
  • Exceptional time management, organisational and communication skills
  • Working well as part of a team, comfortable leading a team and delegating tasks

 

Garden support Role:

The garden support will report directly to the garden supervisor. This role will be responsible for maintaining and managing all food growing gardens to a high standard, according to needs and priorities given by the garden supervisor. Hours would be ~16 a week and responsibilities will include…

  • Directly report to the garden supervisor and support all garden operations as required
  • Maintain all food growing gardens to good health including weeding, feeding, pruning, mulching, composting, harvesting & planting
  • Daily tasks will change constantly, but will always include physical labour, such as the above
  • Support farm manager if and when necessary
  • Working well as part of a team

 

*Please note both these roles are physical jobs and a good level of physical fitness is required.
