Introducing the new Zin experience…

After 10 years, this is the next evolution of Zin. Bringing together the two things our organic & biodynamic farm does best – food and wine.

Zin’s core principles remain, what changes is how you can enjoy them. Graze through the vibrant, seasonal selection of shared dishes, bulk it out with the extra courses if you choose, let the team lead you through a tasting of wines or sit back with an extra glass of your favourite drop.

Communal seating across the restaurant keeps things relaxed and informal, and a more dynamic, condensed offering allows you to be in and out with plenty of time to hit the next spot on Mudgee’s long list.

As always, you can expect the authenticity, generosity and seasonality Kim Currie is known for, and what has earned The Zin House One Hat in the SMH Good Food Guide Awards consecutively since 2015.

Our new opening times are 11am–8pm Friday & Saturday, 11am – 5pm Sunday & Monday.

GraZINg style

Grazing is the style of food Kim Currie is known for. Not as a type of food, but as a way to eat. Vibrant, seasonal food, served on sharing plates all at once. Dishes reflect the surrounding gardens and farmland, wines are those from the vines in-between.

The new set selection of grazing-style dishes includes 3 paired tastings of wine in an elevated wine tasting, then it’s over to you to take your pick of glass, bottle or other to carry you through your grazing.

Recipes are not held secret, rather part of the whole experience, being shared with you to try at home (inc. videos from the test kitchen).

$95 pp includes a grazing selection of dishes + 3x 60ml tastings of wine (or non-alc option).

The menu

At its simplest, you can graze your way through a set selection of seasonal dishes, served all at once, accompanied by 3 paired tastings of wine. At its fullest, you can build upon this base with additional dishes inc. housemade pasta and local cheese to round out your experience.

Much like the food, the wine will be mostly what we make ourselves. Featuring an extensive list of Lowe Wine’s from new-and-fresh to museum (and everything in between), plus the odd guest feature from friends.

The menu is set, and dishes will change regularly (the following is an example only).

Booking FAQ, Terms & Conditions

Booking prepayments

All bookings require a prepayment of $95pp to confirm the booking, this includes the initial grazing dishes and accompanying 3 x 60ml pairings of wine. This payment will be taken at the time of booking online, or requested one month out from the date when booking alternatively. Additional food & drink can be added and paid for on the day.

Dietary requirements

We cook from scratch with mostly our own organic produce and easily cater for most dietarily requirements. Please inform us of any dietary requirements or allergies for your entire booking group at the time of booking, and we will always try our best to cater to your needs – however we cannot guarantee food is 100% free from traces of allergens such as nuts or gluten.

Please note: Because we are a farm-to-table restaurant, pescatarian guests will receive mostly vegetarian dishes.

Seating arrangements

Our new Zin experience focuses on a shared communal dining style, as such we can not guarantee any bookings will be allocated private tables. The modern farmhouse layout seats approx 40 people across a mix of smaller and larger communal tables in the main dining room, plus two smaller dining rooms off the sides which can allow for group bookings – please contact us directly to see availability if you wish to book these.

Large group bookings

Please contact us directly to discuss group booking opportunities. Due to our layout, we may be unable to host groups exceeding a certain size – however we can discuss alternative dining arrangements at both Zin and at Lowe Family Wine Co. Subject to availability and the size of the group, seating may be in a private dining room or in our main communal dining area. You will need to confirm numbers with your guests and pay the full per person amount to secure the booking. If we are not given notice of changes in numbers, the final numbers given at confirmation will be charged.

Can’t or don’t drink?

Non-alcoholic options will replace the paired wine tastings included in the set Zin experience. Our drinks list features additional non-alcoholic beverages to choose from, and sparkling water is on tap.

Changes & cancellations

Please contact us as soon as possible with any changes in numbers or cancellations. We understand that sometimes circumstances beyond your control can require changes to your booking so any variation to the below policy will be made at the discretion of the Zin Team. Where the rebooking of your table is possible you will not be charged.

Cancellations made a month or more out will receive a full refund. Cancellations made between 14 – 30 days from your booking may be charged a 20% administration fee and the balance refunded. Cancellations made between 7 – 14 days from your booking may forfeit 50% of the booking amount. Cancellations made within 7 days of your booking may forfeit the entire booking amount.

Dogs

We love dogs here at Zin, however due to our communal dining style please ensure you call us directly before booking with your furry friend. We will only be able to accommodate dogs if availability allows and may be limited to outside seating only (meaning you’ll be at the mercy of weather).  If prior approval has not been given from the Zin team, please note we may have to refuse entry on the day.

Children

The menu for children is the same as adults. When booking please specify how many of your guests are children. Children under 5 years are free, 5 – 12 years are $75pp, and over 12 years are full price. Children will receive the non-alcoholic offering for the accompanying drink.

Public holidays

A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays unless stated otherwise.
