100% Renewable, from now on.

As of the 23rd of October, Tinja Farm – comprised of our farm and vineyards, Cellar Door and Winery, The Zin House, The Pavilion and Shed by Zin – made a monumental step in our sustainability pursuit, by leaving the power grid for good. We’re now proud to share that all our onsite operations are powered by 100% renewable energy, with the completion of a first-of-its-kind Solar Energy System.
After 8-months of construction (and many more months of planning), local team SPS Solar + Water have put together a 400+ panel array that is capable of generating 265kW’s of energy, and is supported by 1.2MWh of battery storage. Combined, the system provides consistent power across our farm, even during times of peak usage such as during harvest. Up until this point, energy supplied via the grid was incredibly fickle, unable to meet the demand of our kitchens, refrigeration and wine-making equipment – and not to mention the truly staggering energy bills that came along with it!
We are constantly working to become more sustainable. Kim and I have a list of sustainability projects and goals that covers a whole wall, however this particular milestone was particularly big for us. The project has taken almost a year from inception, but the fact that we are now reliant only on the sun is a monumental win for our organic and biodynamic business.
